Nicaraguan / Honduran Cigars

The Central American countries of Honduras and Nicaragua share a common border (see map), but Honduras faces north and Nicaragua southeast, so there are subtle differences, notably in flavour. The topography is similar – well forested (nearly 50% of the land), with hot humid coastal areas and cooler mountain regions with fertile valleys. Filler, binder and wrapper leaf are produced, and the quality of the workmanship is very good. The cigars have distinctive full bodied, flavourful leaf with good burning qualities, and are highly rated in Cigar Aficionado’s blind tastings. Don Luis Martinez started making cigars in Cuba before fleeing to the USA in 1892. The factory is now in Esteli, Nicaragua. The cigars combine the flavours of Honduran and Nicaraguan filler, a Nicaraguan Cuban Seed Binder and an Ecuadorian Sungrown Wrapper. |

From J.C. Newman Cigar Co. Founded in 1895 this company also manufactures such quality cigars as Diamond Crown and Cuesta Ray. Quorum is a top quality cigar packed in bundles at an extremely affordable price. Manufactured in Nicaragua, the filler is a blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican Republic and Honduran leaf, with a wrapper from Ecuador.. This wrapper helps to produce a smooth, medium-bodied cigar. Smoke Magazine gave Quorum cigars a remarkable 9.2 out of 10 in the Spring, 2007 issue. Although Nicaragua grows leaves for Filler, Binder and wrapper, these Nicaraguan brands feature wrappers from Ecuador.
The coastal region of Ecuador has one of the best climates in the world for wrapper leaf. The soil is rich in minerals and natural components, the temperature is mild and cloudiness gives a natural cover that helps to produce bright, soft and elastic leaves. This Don Tomas Bundle is hand made in the Honduras American Tabaco S.A. factory, part of Scandinavian Tobacco Group, in Danli, Honduras. This factory is renowned for its high quality standards.
The blend of Brazilian, Honduran and Nicaraguan filler tobacco is held together by a Honduran binder and then covered with a light brown Ecuadorian wrapper.
Each cigar has a shiny band which comes in a combined, very recognizable metallic light orange and gold design, in line with the wrap that covers the packaging and refers to the light brown wrapper used for these hand made cigars.
